Here’s How Gerard Pique Saved FC Barcelona Financially After Lionel Messi Departure

Messi wasn't the only issue; the team was also having trouble registering other players such as Memphis Depay. Gerard Pique, on the other hand, came to the rescue. Further, FC Barcelona's financial problems have been well-publicized, with the departure of club captain and superstar Lionel Messi highlighting the club's financial decline.

Moreover, to assist Messi, they recruited the Dutch forward on a free transfer this season. Depay will have to bear some of the goal-scoring responsibilities now that Argentinian has departed the club. In addition, FC Barcelona released a statement on their official website declaring that Memphis Depay and the rest of their new acquisitions had been successful.

Additionally, “FC Barcelona has been granted permission to register Memphis, Eric Garcia, and Rey Manaj in the Spanish Liga de Futbol Profesional. This was made possible by an arrangement with Gerard Piqué, in which the salary of Barça's second captain was significantly reduced,” stated Miguel Ruiz, the spokesperson.

Additionally, all of their first-team players have now been enrolled in La Liga. They have everyone available for their first encounter against Real Sociedad, and Pique's gift will be appreciated by manager Ronald Koeman. Due to La Liga regulations, the club was unable to recruit Lionel Messi this season.

Further, Messi was also taking a 50 percent pay reduction, but it wasn't enough in the end. He did, however, make roughly 70 million euros every year, putting a burden on Barcelona's budget.
